Miniature Lop - Otter line - combined with Butterfly
I have been working on otter mini lops from the word go. The foundation stock was a hodge-podge of different rabbits, from different breeders. Over the years it seems to have formed two distinct lines.
January 2020. After much soul searching and some Best in shows and numerous Best Lops I decided it was time to move away from otters. The oldies remained here to live out their days in retirement. The breeding age rabbits went to a friend. I am going to enjoy them in a slightly different direction by introducing the butterfly markings in to the otters. This may become a more serious exhibition project or remain just a pretty and fun one.

Barrowbunnies Tarka
|
Tarka is a son of Yoshi and a small otter doe (granddaughter of Hestia, great grandson to Titan)
He was one of two born, the other being a peanut. So he was fostered to a Lionhead litter. He reminds us very much of Bootleg, both remaining petite but very well proportioned. He is my last otter but I am trying to breed him to an outcross doe. From previous experience knowing no matter how nice he is there will be little point showing him, as most judges would prefer a rabbit at the top of the weight range than one a few ounces under the ideal weight! Tarka remains here - although the otter line is more or less gone I still love that line and him and want to have a wee play with what is left. Possibly introducing otter butterfly. |
Barrow Bunnies Yoshi (Retired pet RIP)
|
A young Yoshi, black otter buck out of Inca x Bumble.
Yoshi matured better than we hoped and has now sired some lovely babies including Tarka above. Living out his retirement in a very large cage with an also elderly sooty fawn doe. Date of birth 13.05.15 |
WALL OF FAME
A slide show of rabbits that do not play an active part in my breeding programme or show team any more but have done in the past. Some are retired loved pets, others went on to help other breeders, some have gone over the rainbow bridge. Each and every one of them were appreciated and deserve a place on our otter wall of fame!
